Find What Inpires You
Nov. 2025- Going hiking, exploring nature, and observing natural objects is where I find myself most inspired to create art. Around this time of year, all the various colors in the leaves fallen from trees inspire many of my glazing choices for my pieces. For some of my work, I find direct inspiration from different natural forms found in nature, too. Like my piece “Germ 2024” is based on a natural fungus found along a hike one day. It consists of a half bowl-like shape with suction-like spots surrounding the surface. The glaze has a bubble white base with a shiny white blue on the spores. You can learn more about this piece under “2025 Work” in addition to seeing some other pieces, also inspired by natural elements. Being in nature makes me feel a sense of comfort and allows me to relax while being creative and playful. It is a never-ending source of inspiration that changes as the seasons do…


Psychological Self Portrait
June 2024 – I chose to create a Cairn for my psychological self-portrait assignment. I chose this, not only to stick with my nature theme that has accidentally manifested itself into my works, but also because the different layers of rocks carefully stacked on each clay made rock represent all the different small parts that make up who I am. Cairns are used to mark trails, lead hikers in the right direction, and are fun to balance. Not only do they serve a purpose, but they can be fun to make and look cool, too.
